OUR GOAL
Wilson County has a highly qualified and educated workforce and provides economic opportunities for all of its residents. The area fosters entrepreneurship as the engine of economic prosperity. It capitalizes on its unique historical and cultural heritage, as well as local institutions, to become a leader in the region and an example of rural prosperity across North Carolina.
UNEMPLOYMENT (UNADJUSTED/DEC)
Unemployed is defined by the percentage of the population ages 16 and older who are unemployed but seeking work. Values represent the unadjusted rate from each year in the month of December.
PERCENT OF POPULATION IN LABOR FORCE
Labor force (civilian labor force) consists of people classified as employed. “Employed” includes all civilians 16 years old and over who either who did any work the week as paid employees, worked in their own business or profession, worked on their own farm, or worked 15 hours or more as unpaid workers on a family farm or in a family business.

EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT
High School Graduates include persons 25 years old and over whose highest degree was a high school diploma or its equivalent. People who reported completing the 12th grade but not receiving a diploma are not included. Persons with a Bachelor's Degree or Higher are those 25 years old and over who have received a bachelor's degree from a college or university, or a master's, professional, or doctorate degree.
